October’s Stupid Horror Movie Prize Goes To… (10/9/2008)
The alarm clock sounds at 6:30 and Monica and I have all the intention of getting up right away. Unfortunately this is swept away by the wonderful bed. We end up sleeping in until around 7:15. By the time we get up, we both still feel incredibly tired and now we feel a little guilty about sleeping in. Oh well. The rest of the morning continues like normal. We head off to our jobs.
Since I was out of the office yesterday afternoon, I had a bunch of emails to catch up on. I manage to get through most of them, but I’ve still got a lot of stuff to take care of.
At 11, I meet with Angelica to pick up my BlackBerry. I can only use the phone part in emergencies, but the email part works fine. It’s hooked up to my work email so now I can access it all the time. Hooray? I’m not sure of the rules of the thing yet. I mean, do I have to leave it on during the weekends or at night? We’ll see.
I head downstairs for lunch around 12:30. I took the leftovers from last night’s chicken and put them in a tortilla wrap. It came out pretty good. I wish I had more food that I could eat on a wrap. PB&J just won’t work. This warrants some investigation. I read some more from Phantoms. I’m digging the book. I just wish I had more time to get through it. As usual, I get all sleepy towards the end of my break. I should really look into a nap time.
Once I return to my desk, I catch up on email and take care of what I can. Nothing all that exciting happens for the remainder of the day.
I return to the apartment around 6 after getting stuck in some traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge AGAIN. Friggin’ road plates. Once home, I do some exercise and take a quick shower. At around 7, I start watching Child’s Play…or at least trying to do so. I picked up this DVD during a closing sale at Hollywood Video a year ago. It had a few scratches, but nothing that was too bad. Unfortunately I couldn’t get through the first minute of the movie without it skipping a bunch. It’s not a huge loss as the DVD cost me maybe $4. I’ll look into some scratch solutions though. I heard boiling the disc can help? Anyone have any suggestions?
With Child’s Play off the marquee, I decide to watch Hatchet
. I’ve heard mixed reviews for this movie, but it was a big deal when it came out. There were talks of “re-inventing the horror genre” and shit. Unfortunately, this movie is a load of garbage. I’m going to write up a full review, but holy crap, this movie sucked.
Monica gets home right as the movie is ending. I don’t waste my time with the bonus features because I was just mad at the film by then. I heat up the leftover tomato soup that I had the other day and toss in some cheese and pepperoni to give it a bit more flavor. I eat while Monica reads a magazine for a bit. We sort of watch the premier of Kath & Kim on NBC. It had it’s moments, but I wasn’t too impressed.
The Office comes on at 9 and while the episode was funny, I felt it wasn’t as good as last week’s premiere. It had some good character development though. After this, the weird SNL on Thursday thing came on which wasn’t funny at all. The guy that’s impersonating Obama does a horrible job.
Speaking of Obama, I got an email from his campaign titled “Time for “The Talk.”" I opened it and found that he wasn’t going to tell me about girls. Instead it was about telling family members to vote for Obama. I was a little disappointed.
Throughout all of this, I was updating my DVDProfiler list. I got into a groove while doing it and pounded through the rest of the H’s as well as all the I’s,J’s,K’s and half the L’s. I think I’m about halfway through with the owned list now. Still have a lot going on though.
I get to bed around 11:30.
