Fun Time Express and the Troll Correlation (8/11/2008)
I’m up at 6:30 with the alarm clock. Monica and I watch some King of Queens and the usual morning routine commences. I head out to work by 8.
I get to the office around 8:30 and go through email and such. In checking the morning news in Google Reader, I find a great review of Final Crisis on Doomkopf. When I finish reading the review, I scroll down to the comments and lo and behold, there’s my troll! Mr. or Mrs. nbs_totg posted there too! He’s just hating on people that are hating on Final Crisis. Wow! A little later on, I post my blog and explain about the troll. I receive a comment pointing me to yet ANOTHER blog that this guy’s replied to. He’s just making the rounds on any and all blogs that are dissing on Final Crisis. Well, you know what? Thanks, nbs_totg. I needed a straw to break the camel’s back and you just gave me one. I’m dropping any and all things related to Final Crisis. Congratulations. You convinced me.
The day continues and I get through a chunk of work. Darryll and I receive our tickets for the sneak preview of Star Wars: The Clone Wars tomorrow. Now I’ve got to make plans to get down to the city. I shoot out some emails to see about meeting up with some people while down there.
At around 1, Tara and Rob from iVillage come by to take us out to lunch. I head out with them and Simone and April to Blue Moon for some Mexican food. We chat about the business, movies and wet dogs while eating some delicious and very filling food. I talk with Rob a bit about movies and comics. The dude still hasn’t seen The Dark Knight! Lunch ends up taking a bit longer than we expected. We get back to the office around 2:30.
I jump into another project that takes forever. It’s easy work, but just tedious. I get through a piece of it, but not nearly enough. I also manage to set up a meeting with former co-worker Mike and Kaitlin from Sherman’s Travel tomorrow so I’m going to go straight to the city and avoid the office altogether. Nice.
I head home around 5:30 and get back to the apartment around 6. Monica went to the library after work to do some stuff for her thesis, so I kick back and watch Slacker. The movie was…interesting. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. Review to come later.
Monica returns to the apartment just as the movie’s ending. We relax for a little while and then look up some DJs and photographers for our wedding. We got these helpful books with tons of them listed from the reception sites we visited. I know that some of these people are basically local and small time, but they’ve got some really shitty websites. I mean, if you’re in the business of marketing yourself, especially if you’re a photographer, invest the money in a good looking website. I vetoed several businesses based on their websites alone. I can’t possibly hire someone if their website looks like garbage. After going through the first book, we break for the evening.
I play some GTA IV for a little while and then we get to bed around 11:30 or so.
