I Think I Just Became a Hulu Junkie
I’m a huge fan of Hulu. I signed up right when the beta came out and I was ready to go. Then I didn’t watch anything. I don’t know why. I love the idea and I really want to check out a ton of the content on there but I just don’t go to the site. I think it has to do with the fact that I sit in front of a computer all day at work so the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit in front of the computer some more to watch TV, especially when my TV is much bigger than my computer monitor.
Enter PlayOn. It’s a program that lets you stream Hulu among a bunch of other online video sites like YouTube, Netflix and CBS, through your PS3, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii. They’ve got a 14 day trial period for the program, so I downloaded it and gave it a whirl. It’s pretty damn awesome. It’s like having a huge database of video content ready to watch at any moment through my PS3. It can link up with your Hulu, Netflix, and/or YouTube accounts, so you’re able to watch your favorited or uploaded videos too. My head is spinning from all the Hulu content I’m going to watch now.
The full program is regularly $40, but it’s on sale until tomorrow for $20. I dropped the cash for the license after checking out the program for only a little while. I think it’s definitely worth it for Hulu alone. I don’t have a Netflix account, but I can see how it would be a huge plus especially for PS3 users.
Right now I have it set up on my PC, but Monica and I are going to pick up her old PC that’s still at her parents’ house this weekend. We were considering hooking it up to the TV in the living room for the sole purpose of watching Hulu on TV. Now I’ll have that PC running just to power PlayOn so I can watch this content on TV.
