Ramblings of a 20-Something
Giant Fans Don’t Help Pizza (8/1/2008)
I’m up at 6 to the alarm clock. Monica had to go to work early again. I eventually get out of bed and watch some Battlestar Galactica. Normal morning routine continues and an episode of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law is watched, then I head to work.
Fridays are normally a little slow and this one is no different. I take care of the usual stuff and stay busy. I begin writing and end up banging out 5 blog articles throughout the day.
Lunchtime is spent downstairs. I eat a PB&J sandwich and continue reading Crooked Little Vein. My break ends with about 15 pages left in the book. I really just want to sit and finish reading it. I’m so intrigued by it.
I return to my desk and catch up on email. I’m continually amazed by the amount of people that clearly don’t read my emails. I try to supply as much information as possible so people won’t have questions, yet somehow they just bypass everything I write and respond with stupid questions. It’s not that hard to read, is it?
I call and make appointments to check out two reception sites next weekend. Monica and I will be heading up to Poughkeepsie on Saturday to take a look at these places.
A fire alarm goes off around 4:30 in the lobby area. I’m on the 19th floor and for some reason the alarm continued to go off with blaring sirens and flashing lights for about a half hour. The fire department came and everything was fine. I don’t understand why the alarm continued to go off up on the 19th floor though.
The lights get turned off just before 5:30. I took that as a sign that I needed to go home.
I head out and returned to the apartment around 6. Monica was already home so we chatted for a little while. She ate some leftover meat loaf, but I had a hankering for some pizza so we take a walk. We head up to the pizza place I really like across the road only to find the place was closed up. There was a fire that burned down the building right next to it so I guess it had an effect on the pizza joint. I feel bad as the place was small, but really cool and the owner was right off the boat from Italy.
We instead walk over to Hollywood Pizza which is a little closer to the apartment. The place is small with no menu, but I order some slices that are on the counter. It’s about a million degrees in the tiny shop and there’s a gigantic fan that could probably double as a propeller on a small plane circulating what little air there was left. I pay for my pizza (1 plain and 1 with pasta on it) and we return to the apartment.
Monica and I watch an episode of The Pretender while I eat. Afterwards I play some GTA IV for a little while and Monica works on the scrapbook. At around 9, I stop and we relax for a bit. I finish my book (review to come soon) and Monica did some Sudoku puzzles. We watch another episode of The Pretender before getting to sleep around 11:30. I practically pass out right after the episode ends.
